When I had to wear the brace, I was riding a Softail with no backrest. I had a Kuryakyn Gran Tour bag on the passenger seat, that I could lean back against. I also wore the Backalign almost all the time. It forces you to think about your posture, and that helps speed up the healing process.
The Gran Tour bag was great for supporting the whole back. With my feet on the highway pegs, it was like a lounge chair.
I had the Backalign on under my jacket in this picture.
I use a non-adjustable rider backrest on my RG, since my back doesn't bother me as much now that the trauma has healed. My wife has the adjustable one on hers, and I hate it. It's not as solid feeling as the non-adjustable one.
I have a Tens unit that I pack for trips, just in case my back starts to act up.

I have problems with S-1 L 5, 4 & 3. Been thru 2 operations. For me the best thing I did was the 10 Yaffie MMB's. They pushed me back and upright. That along with my belt and corbin saddle/ back rest I can ride. My 2 cents, don't waste anymore money on the stock saddle or backrest....
Although it requires a lot more work than wearing a belt, you could try strengthening your abdominal muscles. The stronger the abs, the less back pain you will have..

You mean I have to put the beer away and work out!?? WTF
No, seriously, you're right and I have been working on it.
I was going to send you a picture of mine. I bought it from HornyToad HD (Yes, that's the actual name). I don't remember the price but it was cheaper than the local dealers. Which dealership are you buying from? I'm in Charlotte as well but the only local dealership that I deal with is: *** HD in Rock Hill. I was there over the weekend and saw exactly what you're asking for. They do have them in stock.

HD of Charlotte. I do go down to *** (Yes, that's the actual name) occasionally. Nice people and nice dealership. Might have to branch out if HD of Charlotte doesn't come through.
