I am going to upgrade my system but was wandering if I should do alpine or hog tune speakers. I will be doing 5 1/4 upgrade also
Will be using a sony head unit
if you're going with a sony head unit, do yourself a favor and buy the 6.5" speaker adapter rings so you can put in something bigger than the 5.25" the adapter rings are maybe $40, and you will have much better options in terms of quality and range. you dont neccesarily need an amp using the sony HU, though if you want great sound, you will eventually need one

sbeast Where can I get the adapter rings? at any stereo shop or are they special order?
Go with Biketronics Titan 6.5" or 7.1". A little spendy but guaranteed for life, no questions asked. Awesome speakers for the money and you'll never need to do it again!

biketronics is expensive, but their stuff has a lifetime warranty, and you'll have a really hard time finding a negative review of their stuff. everyone who buys from them, loves the product.
