im needing a new air cleaner to finish my stage one. i have ran the heavy breather on my last 2 bikes, love the look of it but wanting to explore other options this time. i do not like the little round exposed filter set ups. they just look out of place hanging on the motor to me but ventilator looks ok so i guess im looking for similar to the heavy breather. anybody with pix would help a lot too. worst case, i'll end up w/ heavy breather again. thanks guys
Sorry I don't have a better pic but what I did on my 2007 Ultra Classic was a cover that was about the same size as an Evo but completely smooth and CAREFULLY 1/2" holes along the outside edge of the cover, not the face of it, to allow more air flow in. Unless you got right up close to the bike the holes were not visible.
I have a black Screaming Eagle snorkle type I am selling if interested. Dont have a pic off hand but it has a rain sock to hide the element or if you wanted you could get one of the available formed metal covers for it. I can email a pic if interested, but its listed in all the catalogs.
Yesterday I got slammed in a downpour and after hitting a large puddle it stalled my bike out. (Stage-1 filter with OEM cover) I think I would have had more problems if I ran an open air cleaner as it was A LOT of rain... Of course it all depends on when you ride your bike.
Check out the K&N RK-3930. It is made to go with your original "football" AC cover. If you don't like the "football" cover there are many other covers out there to choose from. Personally I like that it looks stock. K&N advertises that it increases power output by up to 8.6 HP.
The PM style heavy breather (FastAire) is huge and I like the heavy breather better. It is a Road Glide. heavy breathers on a Road Glide are the way to go. Both of my glide's have had heavy breathers on them when I bought them. I like the HB as my leg never touches it. Judging by the pic I think it is time to clean my HB. If you have 08 or newer also get the cover for the throttle plug. It really cleans it up. I like the harley cover best as it hides everything whereas a lot of others you can still see the giant plug behind them.
I saw that one this morning & think the style is pretty cool. is it chrome? and does it have a rain sock for it? i ride in all weather, so i cant have a set up that doesnt have something to protect from rain

i've rode thousands of miles in rain and some very heavy rain w/ my heavy breathers and only had 1 time that the bike tried to choke down because of water but i have never had to stop or had my bike stall because of rain

Yes they offer a rain sock for the fast air. They have it in chrome, black, or contrast cut.
