Well, as my luck would have it, I received the outer fairing Monday (3/3/14) and the inner fairing is on the FedEx truck for delivery today, Friday (3/7/14).

Sure wish I had known then what I know now. The outer fairing paint is perfect, except for the silver and red pin striped Road Glide strip on the sides. I figured they would ship the fairing with just the basic paint, not. So in two weeks when I have knee surgery the outer fairing and Yaffe fender are going to the paint shop together.

Since the last post I have opened the primary and installed a new clutch assembly along with an SE clutch spring and new stainless braided clutch cable. Checked the wear on the 2014 SE Compensator and Hayden chain tensioner while i was in there. Both look great after 2,000 miles.

Bled the brakes after installing the FLTR stainless braided ABS lower line.

I modified one of the S&S Power Tune Duals crossover brackets to allow me to use my Progressive Suspensions TourLink.

Got the fall away fine tuned after installing the CCE TourTrac upper triple tree and fork tubes.

Yesterday I temporarily installed the radio bracket, radio and fairing interconnect wiring harness and made sure all my wiring from the handle bars worked. Interestingly I had read a post on the road glide.org forums about someone having their volume control work backwards after a bar change. Well, I too had this problem. Thanks to that post i swapped two wire around in the connector and all is good. The Heat Demon grip heaters work nicely too!!! The only thing I couldn't check was the cruise control function, but I think if everything else worked, that shouldn't be an issue.

I just need to make a check list now so that once the inner fairing is on later today I can go over everything I've done one more time to make sure it's all tight and to spec.

If it weren't for the waiting this is a pretty straight forward conversion. There is a little more to it than the Harley parts if you're running different bars and cables, but very do able and after selling my Street Glide stuff not a bad expense. Surely much cheaper than buying another bike.

Now I'm looking at the DIY air ride that others have done

I'll post some more pictures either later today or tomorrow of my progress.

I'd say you're doing pretty well. That's a real drag about the pin stripes on the RG outer fairing though.

This is a good time, like you've noticed, to go through some of the more menial tasks and take care of the lass glamorous jobs, like brake lines. Once you get the inner fairing on, the project will fly right by!

Can't wait to see the pictures!

Felt like a little kid on Christmas morning when I saw the FedEx truck pull up to the house. The last piece of the puzzle has arrived. Now to get this thing together!!!!

Just about got her all together!!! Got the inner fairing and tach/speedo housing on. Gauges, radio and wiring harnesses in. Bike fired right up!!! Now I just need to get my amp back in and wired up, clean everything up and put the outer fairing on. I'll post some progress pictures a little later.

As promised, some pictures from yesterdays (3/7/14) garage session. Sorry they're kinda dark, dark colors and and back ground lighting really don't mix well. I will more than likely get it outside and on the road today for her maiden voyage!

3/8/14, My "Confused Glide" is all back together. Took her on a couple quick rides around the neighborhood, and she feels great. Got to shower up and take her for a little longer ride and see how it feels at speed!!! I'll post some finished pictures later today, got to ride her before we get rain!

Q, thanks for posting on this project! You will love the CCE tree, I did this a while ago and they bring the earlier front end up to a comparable level with the 14. I know this because I have a 14 limited. My sig pic bike is my 09 Ultra and I have designs to turn it into a shark ultra. The biggest challenge to a shark could be finding the right windscreen to keep the head buffeting down LOL. Thanks to red beard and his list, I will have to check that out. And thanks for the heads up on the change on the part to run the lowers, definitely important to me.

Looking forward to your results! Would you share approximate conversion parts costs with us, thanks.
