yeah, cause only taller people are allowed to have a touring bike.

pfffft. just because i can't flatfoot at a stop doesn't mean that i have trouble riding the damn thing. i just have to use some common sense when it comes to parking. don't park with the front end facing downhill.

and for what it's worth, i've seen some taller people that are pretty squirrely when it comes to stopping, backing up, etc.

here's a 15 year old girl, first time riding a harley (go to around 5:45)

and demonstrating how anyone should pick up a dropped bike (just cause you're taller doesn't mean you can gorilla lift 850 lbs)

yea yea yea I know its your money buy what you want. but I bet there is a bike just as good that would have fit you better. did the stealer tell you that you fit the bike great? he lied to you. I guess people really are out more to look cool then have fun and be safe if you see my bike at a stop light stop 50 ft back from me.
And btw im 5'8 flat foot it very easy. and have never lowered my bike or anything. I mean I guess I read the ride height of the bike atleast before I bought it. but to stand on your toes as you try to stop an 800 lb bike is just stupid
That reply is stupid..being flatfooted is way overrated...

I'm worried that if I put my girl on the back and she shifts weight at a stop we might tip over without me having sure flat footing.
Have your girl friend put on 100#, that will lower the bike

Go to the dealer and try the reduce reached seat... My Friend and Member here has it on his 08 Ultra and it works great...seems comfortable to him he can ride all day... He had his Ultra lowered...Progressive on front and lowering blocks on rear...I think it makes it the same height as a SG...Not sure i would lower the SG...lowering blocks would be the cheapest way to try to lower... You can get blocks for about $100.. easy on easy off if you don;t like the feel...

Harley dose make a lowering kit for the 2014 Rushmore touring Bikes, and your dealer
can order it for you. I don't know the Part number, but I was going to have the front end
lowered when the recall was done. I feel comfortable with the stock suspension so I took
the credit and had the fork lowers chromed instead. The Harley lowering kit will lower the
front forks 1 inch that should Help you.

I am 5'6" short I run stock height suspension all on my baggers. I can flat foot my bike I wear Harley boots with a thick sole. I also run the reach seat on long trips but I had it modified by Mean City Cycles. I felt the seat pushed my jewels up on the gas tank so I had them lower me 1/2", install memory foam in the rider and passenger areas, and set me back 1/2".

I DO NOT recommend the super reduced reach seat unless you like having your goods all up on the gas tank. The reduced reach does the trick just fine and some don't mind it plus the BSR loves it but it isn't for everyone and that's why I had mine modified. The nose of it is awesome it is really narrow so you can get your legs closer together. Mustang makes a seat called the lowdown that does the same thing.

So boots with thick soles and a proper seat and you should be all set!

Good luck.

If you see this "way too much" and you read the title of the thread, why in the Hell did you open it??? You shoulda known before you opened it that it was gonna cause you grief. Now, that's stupid.

In the title, he's asking for help. Do you really think you helped him with that crappy reply?

HeroNtheShadows-I'm 5'7". From my crotch to the floor, barefooted, my legs are 29". I installed a Reach seat and bought a pair of Red Wing 8" logger boots with the thick sole/heel and have no difficulty flat footing at a stop, backing the bike up with the wife aboard and bags/trunk fully loaded when we are on trips.

I brought the seat to an upholsterer and had them add a little relief to the rear and slightly flatten it back there also as the seat has a "U" shape to it.That keeps "the boys" from being crowded up front. I'm happy, happy, happy.

Harley front end lowering kit part number is 45500157. I also put the blocks on the rear of mine.
