Anyone had a battery terminal melt ?
took 15 month old yuasa yxt 24 hl-bs of tourglide to charge using a optimate 4 charged for 10 hours went to put back back on bike and irt melted??
both are 15 months old and showed no signs of problem even tho it had been on bike before using optimate 4 with no issues.
You got a dead short somewhere. You are very lucky that at minimum you didn't lose the bike, you might have burn't down your house too!
If you (or one of your friends) don't understand electricity well enough to trouble shoot and find the short then you absolutely need to have the bike trailered to a professional. Otherwise next time it happens you may be telling us about the home you no longer have.....
I had it happen to me with a loose connection. Trashed a $100 battery on the first date. Be sure everything is good and tight, use a lock washer and go to a longer bolt if you have a bunch of extras in there too.
You are correct spelling and grammer?
keyboard does not work to well now getting on a bit like myself!
The battery was not on the bike when charged and is a sealed item.
The charger is a accumate optimate 4 motorcycle charger /conditioner and does not have any other settings apart from canbus . It has been fine and everything is automated so can't get things wrong?
neither the battery or charger felt hot just the lead post had melted like candle on the neg terminal.
It was charged off the bike to bypass any electrical circuit the bike has.
I have checked the indicator lights on charger and seem ok so presume internal issue.
I have a small amount knowledge of electrical after re-wiring the bike completely everything new.
thanks hope is better to fully understand the issue
Never had much luck with non-Harley batteries for various reasons. Harley batteries usually cost more but never had one take a dump like that or create problems. Often last longer as well. I wonder if the battery itself shorted internally
