I am wanting to go with a new front wheel and Coastal Moto seems to be priced right and looking out for their customers. My question is, I was wondering if anyone has any pics of their Custom 18's up front. I know its not as cool as a 21 but most of my buddies with a 21 wouldnt do it again. So I am sticking with an 18 but want something "cooler" than the stocker.
I've been contemplating a 21x3.5 fat spoke front wheel....been searching it alot. Search the softtail section thread (lot's of deluxes)...and the wheels thread...there are pics and coments to see.
I read differing opinions on the 21"...good and bad....what do your friends say?
We have plenty of options in 18" as well and would love to help you. If you have questions please feel free to contact us via PM or call us here at the shop.
Check out our Custom Wheels for all of the choices available. Usually the most difficult part of getting new wheels is choosing which is right for you.
We'll most of my friends have had the 21/18 setup on softails and baggers. At the time they loved it and didn't/couldn't tell a difference in the ride, other than a little more work to maneuver at low speeds. But after getting new bikes, they said they wouldn't go back. Most have gone the 19" agitator route. And say they feel more agile with the smaller front wheel. It's an expensive mod and I dont want to regret any purchase. I love the 21/18 look but I do a lot of riding to work (80 miles round trip per day) and weekend trips, so I need something that looks good but can be ridden w/o issues. HD has a lot of $$ tied up in research and development maybe there's a reason why they haven't put a 21 up front on any if their CVO baggers. They see it out there and there's no question about how good it looks.
I run a 21 front and 16 rear and ride to work everyday 50 miles r/t. No problems. But, pick what you want. If I based my decisions on others opinions I'd be a completely different person than I am. I ran a 21 16 combo on my softail and Dyna as well without issue.
I'll never forget the guy that bought a set of 18"'s and called back a few weeks later asking how much a 21" was. "I rode my buddies bike with a 21 and it rides great" he told me. This guy himmed and hawed over front wheel size for at least a month. I told him he should get what makes sense to him thus he got the 18". Remember the rotors hide a good portion of an 18" rim as well.
Wheels are as much about looks as they are performance.

Let me know which wheel design you like and I will see if I have an 18" front setup on a bike. It's true that the majority of the people choose a 21" wheel for the front but if you are dead set on the 18" then by all means that is the way you should go.
You can email me at jeff@coastalmoto.com with what you are looking for and I will supply you with any pictures that I can.
We pride ourselves on the best customer service, always try to meet or beat prices on comparable products and if you ever do have a warranty issue, no one is as hassle free as we are.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
I wouldn't call them "custom" but I'm doing the chrome swap out with Sport Chrome on my '09 FLHX stock wheels. Heck of a deal if you ask me and they look good. You can check out this thread with pictures of like wheels. Just another option to think about.
I have a Rev Tech Dominator 6 on my 2012 Street Glide with a Klock Werks Wrap fender and you can't tell it's not a 21. I like it better than the 21 for braking and handling ....
