With the mail slot open, it is better than when closed. Hadn't thought about lowers. I don't have them, and don't think I would want to add either.

Good point about coming from below. Maybe my arm being raised across my chest is what did it, not the height of item on the tank. I'll play around with arm position too. Maybe I'll experiment with something like a plank, just for kicks.

Lots of good info here. We all learn from one another. Another option is fork lowers. I had them on my Dyna. They were pretty fugly, but made a big difference.

I have LRS on both of my bikes. In my opinion they are well worth the money to change them out -- and the LRS are inexpensive to begin with

I have the standard Ultra recurve and I have the Ultra recurve for two up riding -- both make a huge difference

I have a 9 or 10 inch lrs i think ultra. Whatever one on their site says its the #1 seller. I also have a 6in. I like them both, but only use the 9 or 10. However, with that being said, before I go on my long trip this year, I am getting an 8 or 7in shield thats clear. The tint ones i have now are dark and either light or medium and it looks good, but imho, its not a good choice. I like to be able to see the road without tint. Having a tinted shield is useless with a fairing bike due to I dont ride during the day without sun glasses and at night I wear clear glasses so I dont need tinted shield also.

Call Fastaire and speak to Jim, he's the president and owner. He'll set you straight with a windshield that will match your bike and riding style perfectly. I'm running 8" Aero.

Default Soft Lowers Reduce Buffeting

IMHO, you might to consider soft lowers. For one, they require no install or tools, just a couple snaps and clips (speaking the Desert Dawgs brand), and can be removed in seconds. They can be stored in your bags when not in use. They will tamp down updrafts (those coming up your legs and under your chin) and keep you warmer, but also (as noted by others) are extremely handy if you hit rain. http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/harl...n-rain-guards/

Well I just got back from taking the Klock Werks 8.5 for a test ride. Here in S.E Michigan it got up to around 50 degrees. There was a strong cold breeze out of the Southeast. I rode for a bout 20 miles. a mixture of highway speed (80ish) and surface streets (45ish). Honestly, I didn't notice a difference at slower speeds but the buffeting was worse then stock on the highway. I loved the look of it but will not be buying that particular shield. I will maybe try again when the weather gets better. I would love to be able to try the LRS Ultra. It looks like it would work better on account of the different shape.
