Can't believe the EPA lets millions of tons of salt be dumped into the environment every year. I used to hate how that stuff would destroy a vehical. There'd be two inches of snow and the salt trucks would be out dumping salt on the roads. Then the cities and state would be crying about how broke they are from all the salt they had to buy.So glad I don't have to deal with that stuff anymore.
Totally agreed since I moved from a town name Barrington, Illinois.
Yupper.... not going on the road until we get a few good rains. Between the chloride solution, salt and sand it wouldn't be very smart to take a ride, to say "I took a ride"
But jeese... common now let it rain!!!
Call me a pansy a$$ fair-weather rider, but at 51 I've "been there done that" many times over (i.e. ride in cold, crap, salt, etc...). This is why I wait until a few good rain gushers before breaking out the bikes...normally April's my month to start the riding season. Even though it's tempting, and I see bikes everywhere, I'm waiting for Mother Nature to make the salt & sand disappear.
Make SURE you get that crap off the wheels, it'll ruin them. WD40 displaces water, so I dunno if you want to spray the underside of the bike or let the water wash the salt away. Coarse OTOH, water activates the salt. I keep the RK in the garage until the salt is gone + trash the Sporty on nice days like this.
WAY to much salt residue and anti skid and road ash still on the roads to even think about getting my bike out. I'll be happy if I can sneek a ride in the beginning of April.

The past few years they didn't even wait for the snow. A "snow threat" meant that the salt went down BEFORE the weather even got here. Nothing quite like riding down the road with a big plume of white dust following you!
