got caught in a down pour today, salt all over the road and now my bike. SUCKS! came home and washed it real good, sprayed the under side and flooded it with water. this is the first time in 56 years i got caught in the damn salt water. rain is one thing ,but the salt water is something else. think i will spray it down with WD40 under the fenders and such and then wash it again. man, i am so sick of living in the midwest with the crappy *** winters. i can't talk my ol lady into moving to Pensacola or fort walton beach or anywhere where it is warm all year.
Can't believe the EPA lets millions of tons of salt be dumped into the environment every year. I used to hate how that stuff would destroy a vehical. There'd be two inches of snow and the salt trucks would be out dumping salt on the roads. Then the cities and state would be crying about how broke they are from all the salt they had to buy.So glad I don't have to deal with that stuff anymore.
Well it sounds like you did good after the soaking and the bike should be fine. Riding in the rain is bad enough the way dirty road crug gets into the nooks and crannies of the bike, having a coating of salty chemicals is a little worse.
Try to enjoy the cleanup of your bike, think how good it'll look and reflect upon the ride because even in a crappy rain, riding is good.
