I have a '13 street glide. Before riding season is in full swing I wanted to add some parts. I am looking to put mini apes, 10 or 12. When it comes to cable lengths I can't seem to get a good grasp on what ill need (understand still in the air as far as heights) Also put upgraded speakers. I was looking into J&M 7.25" rocker. Obviously like anyone else I want them to put out. Ive heard some people are using and amp. Hoping to gain some knowledge and figure out what everyone is running.
10" bars will make your fairing mounted mirrors useless. I can't imagine 12's being much better in that regard. I went with 4" over stock length clutch cable for 10" bars on my Limited and didn't need a brake line or wire extensions. 12" bars you will need everything longer. Speakers are easy to do as are amps, just need to decide on which ones. I went Hog Tunes.

Where I'm at on apes is I don't want to have them higher than my fairing. Understood the mirrors will be useless, but I can just turn and look. Rather then making a new post in the audio, what are other brands out there as far as speakers?
go with the polk mm651 speakers and the Rockford Fosgate 300x2 amp. in the audio section there is a link to complete installation for this setup from Ultranutz. I went with it and love it. Cheaper than the J&M setup too.
also, I went with the 12.5 apes. love them and they are just at the top of the fairing. really thinking now that I wish I would have went with the 14" apes (was like you and didn't think I wanted the tall bars), but I'm satisfied for now. If I get a new bike I will consider the 14'' though.

"Understood the mirrors will be useless, but I can just turn and look".
I'm sure this statement will be in your favor in a discovery hearing after the accident!

I just put 10" bars on this past weekend. After taking the bike out for a few rides, rest assured the factory fairing mirrors are 100% completely useless. You absolutely need to see what's going on behind you constantly which I am currently resolving. I don't want to have my hands above the fairing, but I also don't want bar mirrors. Trying to decide if I want to go with 12s or 14s and redo the wiring and clutch cable, again, or, just put bar mirrors on.

Lots of great info over there but if ya just want the current speaker/amp "hot" set-up: R-F PBR300x2 amp and Biketronics (HAT) 7.1 speakers. On a budget ya can use Polk mm651s (plus adapters) with or without the pbr.
