I have a Nuvi 550 that I bought a few years ago for about $200 It doesnt have all the features of the expensive models, but its shock and waterproof. here is a link to a youtube testing the nuvi 500 series. It accepts routes, and works great for me.

HD Roadtech Zumo 660 here. Have the NIM with Fairing mount. Does everything advertised. I don't use the MP3 as I also have the IPOD interface (shares the wire harness with the NIM). After two Magellans, 1 TomTom, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s the 660 leaves them all behind. JMHO.

Just seeing a dark cloud somewhere isn't a sign of rain. At least not for me. And not very useful in mountainous regions. I think looking at radar scans for the road ahead works better. Radar on the 665 can display conditions for many miles ahead. But it's all in what's important to you. I'd just hate to get caught in one of those super downpours in the middle of nowhere and no shelter.
