I have the stainless pipe without the ceramic coating. No problems with heat. I think the two biggest factors for reducing the heat are getting rid of the cat and putting in more fuel to make the A/F right.
I'd be surprised if the ceramic coating made a huge difference in reducing heat but every little bit helps I suppose.
Fuel moto also has the SS head pipe ceramic coated, those are $578. I would like to place my order soon but this tropical weather here in northern Illinois hasn't got me excited yet. I guess either choice will be way better than what I have. From the responses here it sure sound like the cat less header is a big change in the heat issue.
I spoke with FM a month or so ago. I was told that the SS ceramic coated reduced the temperature by 55%. The mild steel ceramic coated reduced it by 40%.
I just bought mine two weeks ago, and the folks at Fuel Moto said that the ceramic isn't really required. They offer it because of demand, but they actually talked me into the regular stainless pipe.
Been very happy with the FM SS/ceramic head pipe. Less heat, and considerably less weight. You will be shocked at how light the header feels, compared to stock. Reducing the mass that bolted to, and shaking with, the rubber mount motors is a very good thing, IMO. The welds are so professionally done, it's a shame to cover them with heat shields.
I am trying to reduce some heat and add a little extra to my 2012 Fugly ultra. i am going with a Powervision, Roland Sands air cleaner and head pipe from Fuel Moto. My question is with the head pipe. they have mild steel ceramic coated, stainless steel and SS ceramic coated, does anybody have any experience with the Jackpot pipe and which is better for heat reduction? Thanks for reading.
I have the SS non ceramic and live in AZ also. I wouldn't go for the mild steel. The shields only cover so much and the pipe will look like sh_t in no time. We spend so much on theses bikes, what's $100.00?
Have ridden in 110 temps and for me the most heat comes off the rear cylinder.
For this the Harley Mid Frame Air Deflectors made a huge difference!
Funny thing, I was at the dealer the other day and at least half the touring bikes had the deflectors on. A real testament as to how well they work!
