I live in the land of salted roads in the winter, so SS is a must-have. I've seen too many mild steel pipes (cars, trucks, and bikes) fall apart here. The coating adds another level of protection and helps keep things cooler.
I plan on keeping this bike for a while, so for me it was a no-brainer.
FWIW, the Lowcat I have on my Night Train is uncoated mild steel, and next winter I'll be pulling it to be blasted and ceramic coated, as it's got surface rust all over it.
I have the non-ceramic stainless 2-1-2 also, nice pipe. The difference in cost over the mild steel pipe is worth it to me for the lifetime warranty. The little extra heat reduction that the ceramic offers is not important to me ,plus I kinda like the way the bare stainless looks as it ages, but they all are great performing pipes so you can't go wrong with any of them in my opinion.
Thanks for the responses guys. It is a done deal, ordered the SS head pipe, power vision, and Roland Sands air cleaner from Fuel Moto, bring on the warm weather.
