Anyone have the part number for the reduced reach bars?
Could be I misunderstood something but I looked up the part number55954-00 and it shows the Chrome Road King High Handlebar as opposed to the Reduced Reach Handlebar which I'm trying to make a decisionabout now. Are theyboth the same?
I have an 04 ultra, don't know if it the same bar or not, but stealer told me I had to change all of the cables and brake line. Brake line was about 140.00. The other cables were not that bad. The brake lines are at least braided stainless. THe whole job cost me 400.00!! But they sure do make a difference. Tim(part # 55914-98 for my 04 ultra. )
I have had both the Heritage bar and Reduced Reach one. Forget the Reduced Reach one - need to change clutch cable and the position is not that comfortable; plus I find it somewhat interfers with turning (elbow too close to body). The Heritage bar requires no cable change and is more comfortable. As with any of this, it is personal preferences that will determine your comfort level. Hope this helps your decision.
Called two dealers in Ottawa today and wouldn't you know it, first one said need to change the throttle & idle cables $70 (black), brake hose $165, wiring and clutch OK...second one said cables & hose OK, need wiring extention $92. Kinda wondering now if I should even bother and just keep the beach bars.
Oh, one more thing, no holes for internal wiring but both said the bars can be drilled at the dimples to route wiring through and it takes a while to do this...like a 4hr. job.
I put the reduced reach bars on my RK. It makes for a much more comfortable riding position, but they don't look nearly as nice as the bars that were on it. I'll try to take a pic tomorrow so you can see what they look like. I didn't have to change ANY of the hardware or lines. The had to bend the brake line slightly, but that's it.

i'd like to see that also..... damn short arms lol....
i put the reduced reach bars on and they helped quite a bit. i was getting a pain in the middle of my back. the difference seems small but it is enough, for now. brake lines were not changed. but, i did need to buy a wire extension pack which is a whole other story. i went to two dealers and was given the wrong ones twice. the wire extension needs to accomadate the new clutch safety. anyway i had the dealer cut and splice.
If you go with the #55954-00 bars you use all your
same stock cables. Had them on my 03' RKC, they set just
right for my short arms. Tried Heritage bars cuz, that's where I
came from before the RKC, tried the Reach bars, too close
together, finally landed on the 55954-00 as was posted earlier.
