Just bought my first HD in over 20 yrs. An 06 FLHR,will take delivery later this week.
The seat and handle bars don't seem to fit me very well. I'am 5'10",30" inseam.
Feels like I'am reaching for the bars. Any ideas on a seat and handle bar combination
for touring comfort.
LOL I feel like a kid on Christmas eve ,can't wait for delivery day.
I found myself reaching with the standard bars, so I changed the bars to the HD "extended reach" bars. They brought the bars about 2" closer, and it's just right.
Your gonna want new bars on the bike, 90% of road kings sold get different bars, not sure why The MoCo, doesnt change them, but Either buy the extended reach R.K. Bars or buy a set for a Heritage Softail, Almost exactly the same, and you wont need to change cables or lines. I changed bars on both my last two R.K.'s before I even picked up the bikes. Do yourself a favor and have them change them before you pick the bike up.

I'm interested in getting new bars for my rkc. If I go with the extended reach bars do i really have to change the cables? You mention not needing to change them if i go for the heritage bars... what about the extended reach?
I changed mine to the moco's "custom touring bars", not that much different, butI hope enough. The other thing I found was new from the factory the bars were actually slanted forward. So whenI changed them I mounted them so they are in line with the angle of the forks. Brought the grips aft and slightly lower also.
I was in the same boat and roughly the same size. I felt like I was just reaching a little bit too much and after an hours ride, my back hurt. I replaced the bars with Heritage classic bars. couldn't be happier.

did you have to change the cables? I don't really want to mess with those right now.
I'm 6'2" and switched to theRK High handlebars andso far they're great. Just put them on over the winter, so I haven't done any long trips with them yet.
