Mine does the same and I placed/glued a small tab onto the lever to push the micro switch rubber further in. Temp fix but what the hell is the shim cardboard secret and where does one place it on the brake lever?

Press the brake lever, then place the shim between the lever and clamp housing, where the cable is exposed (near the pivot) from pressing the lever to the hand grip.

it's actually a step in the manual.. I skipped it too and suffered the same fate.. got it rigged up and works fine.. now the right blinkers don't work lol
