I just received the Burkus saddle bag secure kit. Just wondering if anyone here has been using them for awhile? I am concerned that the lock washer will not hold the bolt in tight. Being that my bike is a limited if those bolts come loose I can loose a bag. I know there are nut plates like the ones that come with the kit that have locking type threads. I am going to try and find them and change them out.
If anyone has any experience with the kit would like to hear if they stay tight.
while you are at it, the bolt for the front saddlebag mounts can be eased off by a douche with a 7/16" wrench.
replace the bolt with a 1/4" "button head" bolt, these are near impossible to get a tool on from the side.
you can see mine on the right side in this pic, and the replaced bolt sitting on the white cloth:
I use a wing bolt and speednut on my bags now.
I have had the stock pins vibrate out on a washboard road....however even just tensioning the D rings with a shoelace tied between them will stop that.
