I was thinking about buying a '99 or thereabouts road king and building it up myself. What is the difference in gear ratios, etc. between the Baker 6 spd and the Harley 6 spd. as in the new '07 baggers? Are the issues with the new 6 spd really issues, or are they kind of overblown?
I remember one day when at the Corpus Christi dealer the mechanic rode up on his bike and he had built it with a Baker tranny, Rineharts, floating rotors, etc. and that bike was about the coolest thing I had ever seen. So I thought it would be a fitting tribute to that guy to build one like it ( a cager took him and another guy out while riding). Plus I just like working on my own build-up. Would also like to get a 100 - 100 to run on regular unleaded gas...
Or maybe it would be a better deal to just get an '07 and go ride? Looked at the new '07s today and they are just really beautiful.
buy the 99...do a Baker DD6....build the motor...save a classic, you'll be the new coolest thing on wheels...buyin a new bike is easy, some of us can just pick up the phone and have one delivered...IMO, tweakin an older bike to better'n new standards is uber cool [8D]
