Okay....here is the background...lowered front end 2 inches due to the new 21' wheel with Progressive drop-ins. Started riding...got a clang sound. Front end bottomed out horribly. Okay....my brother changed to a heavier fork oil hoping to prevent this from happening again. Guess what...didn't bottom out right away but after a day of riding to Tennessee it is happening again.
My question is do I need a heavy spring? I thought about going to the Racetech springs. What you think? This is driving me crazy and denting my very expensive Klock werks wrapper newly painted fender!!!
I went down 1.5" and I know with my own experience, mine rode like a rock with SE fork oil in it. No clanking or odd sounds, but just a harsh ride. Your front end is heavier than mine with your fairing but maybe just SE oil will help. Make sure you are using the correct amount too.
I ended up switching to a 50/50 mix of SE and stock oil, that solved my harsh ride issue. Good luck!
I dropped mine 1.5" with the same kit and haven't bottomed out in 2 years, and that's with my old lady occasionally riding 2 up. I'm about 190 and she is 110, maybe. I don't know if that extra 1/2" is causing it, but either way that sucks and you certainly cant have that continue to happen.

I have the 10-2003 kit on my bench, ready to install. The spacer issue has me stumped, I'd like 1 1/2 inch of drop also. What spacer length did you use? I'd like to avoid any clanging or bottoming like the OP is having, maybe it's just the extra drop?
I sent an e-mail to Progressive, they recommended using a 1/2 inch spacer for 1 1/2 inches of drop. You may want to add the spacer and see if that corrects the bottoming and clanging, I'm going to do my install that way.
