I find it interesting that there are so many rallies listed. I have never seen the draw of rallies. When I set up a bike trip, it is just me and my lovely bride. That is all the rally I need.
Well, around 75% of the time I ride alone(100% with no passenger as my wife does not like to be on the back of the bike, especially now with our first child only 3 months old) The other 25% I ride with one or 2 friends. I find it fun and different to meet up with a bunch of people just to hang out and enjoy our sport together every now and then.
Plus, I get to ride alone getting to that event.
Try it sometime, you might have some fun and meet some new friends

Amen to that! Except for the part about riding with the bride (we're together 24/7 and sometimes just need to get away). I prefer riding with one or two buddies and a "Let'splay it by ear itinerary". Rallies are for RUBs and guys with LEDs illuminating their engines. Just kidding...each his own.
Next week - AZ bike week
Memorial Day Weekend - Red River Rally, Red River NM
June 25-29 - Haulin' A$$ for the Pass (HDForum SW minirally)
July 21-Aug 4 - CO, WY, MT, UT, WA, OR, CA, NV, AZ
Sept 12-16 - Golden Aspen Rally, NM
And as many of the "long route" grocery runs as I can get away with.
I had a feeling that someone would say Rallies are for RUB's... hahahaha I never meant it that way at all. I have been to many rallies. But, I just cannot stand them any more. I damn sure am not gonna structure my ride time around crowded city streets where you barely get above idle. When I take a week for a riding trip, I want to do just that... RIDE... not sit in traffic on Main street getting a cramp in my clutch hand...
I grew up in Orlando and graduated from Embry-Riddle and remember when Daytona Bike Week was centered around the races, not the tourists. Maybe that is the root of it all. Growing up in a tourist town and working tourist traps made me hate tourists and don't wanna feel like one in a town that I know like the back of my hand.
I go to some local bike nights and I can talk to anybody. So, I rarely have an issue meeting people, especially with my bike, it is always a conversation starter.
So, to get the thread back on track, I am going on some good rides this year, with no rallies involved.
Glacier National Park with the four horsemen in late June, 10-14 days then back home, following weekend go to the freedom rally in Algona, Iowa, then around July 10th out east to ride the BRP with wife, my brother and his girl friend for 2 weeks, later maybe down to the State-line Rally southern Iowa..in between I got friends in Minn. and in K.C. Kan. to go see with some in Danville, ILL. and there is always a small Rally to go to someplace, I'm like ChiefGator, I have no use for big Rallies anymore, to crowded, to many dickweeds.
At the end of May I'm riding from San Diego to Salt Lake City for a week.
On Aug 1st my Dad and I areriding our E-G's toSturgis via Oregon and along the Wash/Oregon border, thru Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, etc... Then on the return trip we'll take the southern route.
