$42,400 !!
Last year I bought my 2009 FLHTC for 17500 CDN. this winter i put it in for a R&R and a 107 kit..
I went a bit to far with my credit card. and now I have added about 27k in modifications and paint work..
I will never get that money back. so im keeping the bike for ever. Im thinking of putting it in my front room and make people bow to it....
Like I always say. "I've made a lot of mistakes in my life. Getting a divorce wasn't one of them". I'm reconsidering that though as it will take two paychecks to pay for a $42,000 motorcycle.
Harley's have always been overpriced....but that's the cost of getting into the club.
After reading this thread it sounds like the people that were the first bikers could not even afford to be a biker anymore. guess todays versions are the guys that are buying the cheap jap bikes and make rat bikes out of them
don't know what some of you are doing for work, but I want a job with you. I make what I always thought was fairly decent money and have been wanting to get a new bike for a few years, I just want a heritage but now way can I justify spending 15-20k for a bike. Bikes are more like a necessity to me then a toy. Sounds like the normal biker nowdays spends more on there bikes then I can dream of. maybe in a couple more years I can get one. until then I guess i'll be riding my 1999. it shocked me that while reading the signatures at the bottom of these posts that almost no one has a bike older than 2011 (saw only 2 that I remember a 06 and a 07)
I can't even imagine an original biker driving around in what would be equivilant to todays new BMW's, Lexus's, Cadillac's.
Hope I didn't offend anyone as that was not my intention, guess I just really realize how much money todays bikers have. I'm glad that you are all doing so well, really I am.
now I see why Harley can sell anything at any price and people buy it.
I have a buddy that works at the parts counter at the local HD shop. His favorite phrase when someone asks what something costs is "Don't worry about it,... you can afford it" and they do.
ok, time for another beer and to quit rambling on about nothing.... carry on, nothing to see here.

The next financial crisis is going to hit and its going to be worse than the last one. So bikes are going to be cheap..
Ironic that the bikes are more reliable and longer lasting than ever before, yet it appears more people are trading in what I consider new bikes every 2-3 years than ever before.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Last Saturday I made up my mind and we headed to the dealership to buy an Ultra Limited. I told the dealer we'd take it and we were walking back to his desk. Along the way, my wife and another employee started commenting on how nice the CVO was. Long story short, we left that evening having purchased the CVO.
It's a ridiculous amount of money, but life is short. We are fortunate to have the means, and my wife felt I'd regret not getting the CVO down the road. All the new Harley's are nice, but the CVO really stands out. I'm loving the bike and plan on keeping it for quite some time.
