Spend the money, you'll be happier and as the other post stated you get rid of the security light. If you spent the money to upgrade to led, the few extra bucks is just part of the upgrade. IMHO
I have Custom Dynamics r/s/t LEDs and I asked them if the load equalizer was a must to put on. They said no. It'd just make the dash light flash fast after a few normal ones BUT the lights themselves would flash normal.
thanks. i will probably email custom dynamic guys and ask them to make sure. the flashing fast doesnt bother me. in fact i think it would get the people in cages attention better. but if it causes the red key to come on then that would just be annoying. and if the load equalizers were only a few dollars i would just go ahead and do it but theyre $75 and thats a little much for something like that right now.
What I posted is what my Blackline does. My lights don't flash fast, only the dash light because the bike thinks there's a light out because LEDs don't pull enough power. The load equalizer just equalizes that, so it won't flash fast. Even if the lights did flash fast, you're right...maybe it'd get the cagers attention. But $75? Ouch!
Can you mix LEDs and incandescents together or do you have to go straight LED with an equalizer? what's a good middle of the road equalizer?
i got a set of the cd moonshinez for the wife's bike (given to me by a bud who couldn't use them). put them in the front, left the stock incandescents in the rear. they do not 'flash fast' or illuminate the security key. in fact, they work perfect.
now i do know that if/when we go led in the back, that a load equalizer is a must do then. but for now, all is good.
I have heard...never tried it...that you can wire in a regular incandescent bulb somewhere to act as a load equalizer...certainly a lot cheaper than $75.00, and does the same thing... Just seems a little weird to have a light bulb flashing away somewhere for no reason but hey...
