I tried it without around my country block and decided it musta been ok 30 years ago to fight that wind, nothing to prove.

46 years of riding, Never had a shield. MY '13 FLD came with one, road it home with the shield off, one day decided the try it and hated it. awhile later I gave it another try just because and still hated it but made myself try it a little longer and became to really appreciate it on the 80mph interstate rides to and from work, now I mostly leave it on unless Im just out for a local ride around the back roads.

I remove the windshield for just riding around town in the warmer weather, every chance I get. It goes on and off in seconds so it's easy enough, just like everything else being "quick detach" on this bike. Thats one of the main reasons I ride a RoadKing.

If the wife is with me or the bugs are going to be bad, I will use it. Love riding without it

When I first started riding, before my Road King, I did 15k a year for 3 years and said "I'd never ride with a windshield." Well, I bought a Road King, and like the look more with a windshield and wouldn't you know, 99% of my miles are with a windshield. I guess I've just become soft. Still will crack out a 1,000 day about once a year, so I suppose that maybe makes up for it?!

I always ride with the windshield on. The only time without is for a quick ride around the neighborhood to help it air dry after a wash. I find the road noise is too loud without it, especially at higher speeds. I also assume all the crap I clean off the windshield after every ride would be splattered on my jacket or in my teeth without it.

Have used a windshield on just about all my bikes. Even if its just a small one to help deflect the wind. Fighting the wind all day gets old for me. The RK won't be any different.

I only use mine when it is cold or I'm going on a long ride.

All my day rides are always without the shield. I like the wind hitting me until about 60 MPH then it starts taking it's toll on my lower back. The shield was on going to Sturgis last year and once we got there I did a lot of riding without it. It's definitely easier on you with the shield on, especially at interstate speeds.
