Default Torque Wrenches

Well, I have finally come to the realization that some good torque wrenches are in order.

Can anyone recommend a few good makes? I'm not as concerned about price as I am with quality and warranty. Looking for onethat isfor inches, and one forfoot pounds.

Try Sears, you cannot beat the warranty,Also Auto parts stores, then there are the specialty people aka Snap-On etc.

I've used Snap-On , MAC , and SK for about 30 years , but like the Snap-On best for both pound and inches.
Had a Snap-On ft lbs for 20 years and had it rebuilt and calibrated once , as we used it so much.
Never tried Sears , but they would probably be good for the non professional/daily use , user.
Good stuff.

I've got both of these toque wrenches, and the life time cal. I work on cars for a living and they have held up quite well, I've sent them in for cal one time.

I get a deal through work for MAC Tools, so I bought my in-lb wrench from them. However, I bought my Ft-lb wrench from Harbor Freight. Can't beat the price and the quality is actually pretty good. I am fortunate enough to be able to calibrate mine at work, so buying a low cost one wasn't too much of a concern for me.

Something to consider is the type of torque wrench (dial or click)to invest in. I prefer the break away or "click" torque wrench for foot-pounds. It's sometimes awkward or next to impossible to read a dial straight on when applying torque (e.g., drain plugs). A dial type is finefor inch-pounds.

Go withquality like Snap-on.

This is a tool you are relying on to be accurate. Buy a good one. Snap-on, Mac, Proto, etc. BTW, I think Sears only warrants their torque wrenches for 1 year. Not forever like most hand tools. That might tellyou something about the Craftsman torque wrench.
