I had my dealer install a zumo 660 with the interface on my 2013 ultra. When I push the nav button on the radio it says "internal nav not installed" on the radio screen. What do I need to do? Pisses me off I paid to get it installed professionally and it does not work.
The "nav" button was intended for built in navigation that was never provided on our pre '14 radios. So, it has no function. If the 660,was installed properly you should hear the nav directions from either the speakers or the helmet speakers depending on the "speakers" switch position.
That is correct. If you do a search on here there are a few threads on what the Nav does. From what a buddy told me there was a NAV unit that interfaced with the radio, but it only gave directions through the speakers and were words on the screen, no actual maps like the 660 to look at.
Thanks. So I don't need to do anything other than have the radio on then and the gps will override the radio.
Yup...that's how mine works, and my trike is Ultra based. Hope it works for you.
Oh yeah...but in order to play stored MP3s from the Nav unit through the stereo it needs an audio plug to come out the fairing and plugged into the audio input plug on the stereo. My dealer did not add this cable. I have some other mods to make that require pulling the fairing front, so I'll do that connection then. I had to do a lot of research to determine this connection is required to play MP3.
The 660 will override the radio when giving voice directions. That's what the NAV interface is all about. There's nothing you need to do but select whatever music you want to hear, then select a destination on the 660. When it's time, the music will mute and the directions will be heard.
However, be aware, you can only adjust the NAV voice volume, when the NAV voice is talking.
So, if when the 660 attempts to give voice directions, the radio sound mutes, but you don't hear the directions.... the NAV volume is too low.
To fix it, set up a destination in the 660 and when the radio mutes, quickly use the volume "up" control to increase the NAV volume.
Sure hope I explained that well. I thought my interface wasn't working until I learned how to adjust the voice volume.

For a cleaner look, you can send your HK unit to iron cross audio and they will install input jack on the back of radio hidden from view. I believe it's around $69.00.
I have a quick question I have the 660 as well haven't sprung for the interface just yet. Will it interupt the 660s internal MP3 player with instructions or only the radio?I never listen to the radio could the power be internally hard wired without the module?
