I look at it this way. I got rid of a very nice CBR 954RR when I got my street glide. All my buddies constantly as me why I dont want to do motor work to my harley to make it faster. Thats not why i bought what I bought, I just want a stylish good riding motorcycle I can take my wife with me on that has tunes........ If i wanted to be fast i would have kept my crotch rocket, because no amount of work on my harley would make it nearly as fast as what I came from. If the OP wants to beat up on goldwings its gonna take a lot of $$$$
I had a 98 Goldwing that pulled harder from 70-110 than my 11 FLHTK from 30-55. That Goldwing at 100 mph is as smoother than my harley at 35 mph. At 90 my head is shaken so bad my eyes are blurry. Both are good bikes but you have to remember they are different bikes.
Funny thing about Goldwings. They're a miracle of modern technology, they're fast, comfortable and handle really well. But most people I've seen that ride them ride like they're on a mobility scooter at the convalescent home.I blow by them all the time, could I hang with them? I could probably hang with them on my old KLR 250 if I wanted to putt around at exactly the posted speed limit all day.
Gold wings get real poor gas mileage, may as well have a cage.
HUH? Have you ever driven or owned a wing? My 2006 gets 44-46 MPG consistently. Pulling a cargo trailer, loaded, two up it gets 36-38 depending on wind and speed. My Street Glide has gotten at best 42 MPG but usually averages 38-39. But then I don't own either for fuel economy, riding with the wife it's the wing, just myself - the Street Glide.
