Default pretty much the same:

After draining I do the oil steps much like this: I fill the new oil filter and put it on, then add 3 quarts of oil and that puts me right where I want to be when engin is hot. right between the half and full mark, no blowby.

2013 SG and 3.5 quarts puts it right at the full mark (too much). I start with 3 quarts then run the bike for a few seconds to fill the system then just top off between the marks if needed.

2011 Limited 103. 3 quarts with filter change puts me half way between full and add. Bike seems happy there with very little oil getting to air filter.

I go 3 quarts with a filter change on mine and its perfect. I still get a "little" blowby out the breather, but if I go 3.5 quarts then I'm wiping up oil non-stop.

3.5 quarts is about perfect on my '09 King.

1/2 way up the range works perfect for me. No spewing oil into the AF. Funny thing is, if I check it hot on an 90deg day after a run or if I check it cold it's always at the half way up mark.

My understanding is that is as it should be. The concern is that when sitting, oil can slowly flow into the crankcase, giving a false low reading in the tank on the dipstick.

Probably not an issue for most bikes, and not for one that's only been sitting overnight. Does seem to be an issue sometimes for bikes that have sat all winter. There are some posts about them having no oil showing on the dipstick after winter storage, with replies that the oil is almost assuredly sitting in the crankcase.
