OK, Guys. This is really driving me nuts. I have a new 07 Electraglide classic, all stock until the stuff below comes in from Fuel Moto this week. Going in for my 1000 mile service on Tuesday. I've noticed for the past couple of hundred miles a noise like a clicking (or maybe a ticking) at about 60mph and it's only in 6th gear. If I speed up it goes away. If I go less than 60 in 6th it gets worse. It may have been there before but with the music on and all I may not have heard it. Is it normal or should I get the stealer to look at it when I go in for service? If I should, can someone give me an idea of what it is so that I know the stealer is not feeding me a bunch of crap?[:@] Thanks.
Keep the revs up past at least 2200rpms.....preferrably >2600rpms..... I don't shift to 6th until 68-70mph. Have you had the 0903 torque smoothing calibration done?
Welcome from Lake Charles, La.too by the way....LOL!!
Thanks for the welcome, Ultra! Let me get this straight. If I only ride the local roads (non interstate) at 60 or under I should not even get to 6th gear. Wow, that means I could drive to work all week (about 20 miles round trip per day) and not use my 6th gear all week. Am I understanding correctly?
And, yes I did do the 903 at my stealership (renegade in alexandria). You going the the state rally next weekend?
You are lugging the motor. Ultra was right about keeping it above 2600 rpm's. My dealership has been putting hw gear lube in the transmissions to keep it quite. I just had my 07 Classic done Saturday and it seems to work.
I ride about 20 miles a day everyday to work. I never get into 6th and rarley get into 5th. I sure do like the versatility of the 6th on the freeway though. Makes 80 mph enjoyable.

Exactly. 07's do not like much under 2000 -2200 rpm. You just get used to keeping the revs up.

As you ride the bike and become more familiar with the characteristic(s) of the 96 stroker motor you will begin to appreciate and respect 5th and 6th gear. 5th gear is fine and dandy all day long at 60-65mph and when you go to pass and twist the wick it will punch to 80mph in no time......in 5th gear.
6th gear is for long stretches at ~>68mph or >~2400-2500rpms. I don't even look at MPH when I'm in 5th gear anymore, as I watch my tach and shift to 6th according to my tachometer....LOL...when my tach gets to ~24-2600rpm........slide into 6th and cruise.
5th gear is a beast and believe me, the aforementioned suggestions are not "racing" this motor......on the contrary, as if you are attempting to ride it like a Goldwing......you will be lugging this motor.
He's right less than 60 is lugging but after I put slipons and K&N A/C and PCIII maped from fuelmoto I no longer have that clicking problem, so hopefully it will help yours too.

exactly. just cause you have it, doesn't mean you use it all the time. something that i've noticed with this new 6 gear-people want to shift into it all the time. even when riding in areas where you wouldn't get out of 4th before, now they want to be in 6th. i would complain too (not saying this applies to you kjunguy, just an observation) when i ride to work, there is about a 12 mile stretch of road where the speed limit is 65. so i usually run about 70, i can stay in 5th or go to 6th here, its a short stretch, so not much difference.
have you had any service issues with renegade? i can't stand there sales department or tactics, but haven't had any problems with their service department. bought 3 bikes from cajun, but its a little far to go for 'small' things.
