Default 10" Paul yaffe monkey bars

Looking to put apes on my '13 sg. Saw a set of the 10" on another bike. I've heard that yaffe measures his bars differently that their 10" is actually a 12". Anyhow the bars I saw cleared and the factory fairing mirrors were still useful. As far as factory cable and tbw lengths go, would these yaffe 10" would they be long enough. Like everyone else I'm just trying to save money. Looking for someone to shine light on dilemma.

Put 10 on my EG and they are a little over 11 1/2 tall from mount to top. They put tops of hands just above faring a bit.

There's a bunch of threads on the subject. But to save you some time, I just did 10" yaffe's on my 2012 SG.

- Yes, they are taller than other 10" bars. I'd say about 11" or so. They just peek over the fairing.

- The fairing mounted mirrors are still somewhat useful being that I am 5'10". Any taller and your viewing angle will be different, and likely require bar mounted mirrors. I still may consider getting some bar mounted ones, as I only see about 1/2 the mirror.

- The wiring is just long enough, however you will need to reroute the plugs inside the fairing to below the radio in order to reach the shorter wires now coming from the bars.

- TBW: remove the green connector and solder the wires directly. Make sure not to mess up with the wiring of the TBW wires, as they are the same colors (There's a set with yellow tubing, and a set with black tubing). If you have no intention of wiring heated grips, cut the black connector coupled with the TBW wires. This way you have less wires to pull through.

- The brake line is fine. It's tight but fine. In my case I had to re-position the line at the master cylinder to angle it better, and straighten it slightly just below the eyehole with a pair of pliers.

- I was able to reroute the clutch cable to make it work using the insight from several posts here. Some people say that the clutch may disengage with the steering at full lock. I have yet to encounter that (only been two rides so far since the snow started melting). I'll order a +4 clutch cable if I do encounter issues, so budget for a +4 clutch cable just in case.

Take your time pulling the wires through. It's an experience to put it lightly. A lot of cursing and drinking will be involved.

That's what I have on my RK:
Really like these bars; I believe they are actually 12". Wrist angle is just-right!

If you had could have done it differently would you had gone with higher bars?

crappy pic but shows me on my bike with 10" MBB.

Rides real nice, I'm happy while higher would give the cool factor I won't get harassed with these by the local popo. Wrist angles are nice. Have done a couple 12 plus hour days riding while in Florida and am very happy.

Are they listed from the manufacturer 12" or are they listed 10"?

If they are the ones in njstreetglide's sig, they are definitely 12's. The ones in sudbury2010glide's pic are representative of 10" Yaffe bagger bars.
