Congrats! I have a '13. The mandatory upgrades for me and my wife were a Higher windshield. I used a HD 10" Windsplitter. A better seat, I used a HD Sundowner and then had it worked on. Cut out the riders foam 1" and added closed cell marine foam. Great now. 4 point mount and detachable rider and passenger backrest and luggage rack. Streamliner boards for my wife. ALL the rest of the stuff I did was just cause!
I bought my 08 FLHX in 09. In hindsight I wish I would have looked for an Ultra. I got it for an OK price but have since put a lot of $$ into it. Still love the bike but wouldn't mind if it had some of the Ultra goodies...
Hey guys, 2015 FLHX here. On the buffeting issue, usually you will find that the buffeting is caused by wind coming UP from under the fairing or windshield. You can test this by holding one arm across your chest and feel the wind coming up. holding the arm in place will usually stop the buffeting. I have had this problem on my last two bikes, especially with 3/4 helmets in the winter. The best solution for the FLHX is to get a pair of the fairing wind deflector that attach to the lower edge. They come stock on the ultra and your dealer can get them; they are not that pricey. They attach with three screws on each side and actually look pretty good on the bike. This will stop the buffeting,

I used the smoked adjustable ones. On top of this I added the chrome deflector that mounts on the back of the lower triple tree. With both of these the 10" windshield really helped as well.

Snake, that is the exact setup that I have, including the 10" shield. Some people don't like the look of the chrome lowers on the fork but I do. I have not tried mine with just the adjustable ones, but have been told that they will do the trick by themselves. I like having both. No buffeting ever.
