Adjustable push rods
asking for some feedback on this.. I'm doing a 95 upgrade and cams on my 04 RK. Since I had to remove the heads should i just use the stock pushrods or should I go with adjustable.. I already purchased them but could use the $160 elsewhere.. any insight.. Thanks
Others will chime in on the pushrods. But if you do use adjustables and you using the OEM pushrods tubes those clips on the pushrods are a major PIA to get back on.
Ask me how I know...looks like a got in a fight. Consider purchasing a Push Rod installer tool. They're less and $30 bucks on EBAY.

Depends on exactly what you are having done.
Is the base circle the same on the new cams as the stock cams?
Are you doing head work where they are shaving the heads at all?
Thinner (.030 for example) head gasket?
All that comes in to play on the question of re-using stock length pushrods.

You may need the adjustables to compensate for cam base circle difference, head milling and/or head gasket change. If any of these differ from stock you will need to know how much and do the math.
If you can use original pushrods by all means do so, if are changing cams to a SE cam,
there is a table with a list of prefect fit pushrods that will also work. Pushrods that are
adjustable are heaver, so you have more reciprocating weight in the valve train, and that
makes for slower RPM gain. With SE 204 cams go with H-D part # 18400-03

I did cams and reused the same pushrods on a supposed same diameter base circle. It's much noisier than it was before. I might need to change to adjustables, but for now I'm just living with it.
