Default Seat issue

when I ride for some reason my hips start to hurt when I stop and put my feet down. Could this be a seat issue? Anyone else experience this.

I get the same thing. Attribute it to getting along in years a bit. I've had this with 2 different bikes, and at least 3 seats. Aleve helps.

Just a guess, but I note you have 17" high handlebars. That would rotate your hips back a bit. Whenever I see riders with apes they appear to be comfortable, but when they stop, are they? I know a 78 y/o rider with 14" apes on his Ultra and he complains of the same thing when he stops. Of course, he is old enough to hurt anywhere.

I experience that sometimes when i use a very low seat- such as the Brawler solo.

it's the stops that get me;

when I lift my foot off the floorboards, I have to raise my leg from the hip, and rotate my leg ( from the hip) out and then down.

when I use a taller seat such as the Ultra, it is simply a matter of lifting my foot straight up off the floorboard, moving it out a few inches and dropping my foot down.

reverse all that when lifting the foot.

so more strain on the hip with a low seat. for me anyways

I'd invest in a backrest if you don't ride with one, especially on long days on the bike. I find that it allows me to shift my weight around to relieve what needs relieving!

I'm guessing it could be a slight compression of your L-7 through L-8 in your lower spine.
No, I'm not a doctor, but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night......

Thanks for the replies. Gonna get another seat and backrest and try that. It's not while I'm riding I'm comfy and can ride a full tank without stopping. Just feels like when I stop and put my feet down my leg is pushed out and rolls my hip to the point it hurts bad.
