I've taken my bike to a place named Skips in Winchester Virginia to get it tuned at least twice in the past as they sold me the TTS power Commander. When having engine work this past winter I took if back for a third time. For whatever reason their computer would not communicate with the bike and being a weekend they wanted to keep the bike until Monday to contact California where the tuner was manufactured so they could determine what the problem was. By Monday night I needed to make a decision...pull the ECM out of the bike and send if to Cali or replace the tuner for the regular price of over 400.00. A ride was planned for the next weekend and the bike has been in rehab for five months already. This was the last step to actually getting in the saddle. I was told that something may be able to be worked out after the fact by sending the tuner alone to get it tested without the ECM. I opted to buy a new tuner with the hopes that the dealer (Skips Cycles in Winchester Va) would help me as much as they could with straightening things out. Long story short, the owner completely bailed on me during a very short conversation on the phone the other day stating that he would accept no responsibility for the tuner and that I had made a choice to purchase a new tuner. I mention it was a short conversation because as I tried to explain the situation to him he hung up on me. It really was the most blatant show of disrespect from a business owner I I had ever experienced. As a matter of fact it stunned me to such a degree that when it happened I started laughing. I'm still shaking my head. If you plan on needing a tune in this area of the country I would think twice about going to this place. If I sound disgruntled then so be it. I've owned my own electrical business for over 20 years now and I would never even consider doing what this guy did to me. As I told a riding friend in our riding circle, "Skips has left Planet Earth" as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the heads up for members in that area. I'm wondering why they would send out the ecm for repair and suggest the PC was faulty. The PC does nothing to the ecm, does not overwrite the factory map.

As long as you were not rude, the owner hanging up on you needs to be reported here so folks avoid that establishment.

I understand that being rude would certainly be a factor. It wasn't the case. Maybe he was having a bad day? No excuse. He treated me as if I was bothering him from the first five seconds of the conversation. You know I would have thought due to the problems they were encountering that by giving me options they would have coerced me into buying a new one with a discount. If not on the tuner itself then on the labor.
Whatever. There's options alright. Other shops...

Thanks and noted, will not go to Skip's, nor will I ever go to Waugh's HD and let them work on my bike again.

Interesting to hear this about Skip's. I have met people that swear by Skip's for dyno-tuning in VA and even in the mid-Atlantic. I was considering taking my FXDC there when I upgrade the motor, but I may think twice now.

I think the Hd dealer in Winchester uses Skips for dynotuning. Why bash Waugh, I've had good service there on my bikes?

This situation requires more than a few paragraphs to make any kind of decision like avoiding a well known dyno shop. You would need to be there during the whole process and there are too many questions unanswered.

The hd dealer in Winchester WAS married to skip. His wife now owns the dealer after they split. I doubt they even talk
