Default Lower Seat Help please

Im looking for a lower seat for the wife for her "new to her" 2008 FLHTCU. I see a few advertised locally to me privately and listed as 24688 Low but nobody can tell me what they are from and if they will fit a 2008.

Can anyone here help me out on this? The number I'm giving is in the seat pan.

Thanks!

porschemann. check out the tallboy seat from HD. Contrary to it's name it actually sits you down about 3/4" and forward about 1/2" Doesn't sound like much but coming from a guy that's 6'4" it makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks... I've got my seating sorted. I'm about 6'6" 250lbs and my position is great with a modified pillow look seat on my '03 EG. But what I was hoping to find out is the factory seat labelled 24688 Low on the bottom of the pan. I am assuming it is from a SG but was hoping to verify that here. Unfortunately the number is on the seat pan and not a factory number otherwise google would be my friend.
I'm trying to lower the seating position for the wife on her '08. 2008 Ultra is one of those odd years where not every seat fits. It is different from '07 and it's different from many but not all '09.

Hoping someone here can help me out. Anyone with an '08 SG willing to pull the seat up and tell me what is printed in the plastic seat pan?

Thanks!

ah gotcha. unfortunately HD seats only have part numbers on the boxes they're shipped in. the other numbers stamped on the bottom of the seats are hit and miss at best as to what they fit.

Is this it? I found this on an ebay page. If so then it looks like an older RKC seat.

Yeah, that is the same part number reference but the auction is over so you really can't see any pics other than the tiny thumb nail photos.
No, though the thumb nail of the first pic is the same, the side photos are different. The seat advertised here is plain on the sides. It really looks like the Low but I know that 2008 is a funny fitment year, and the guy is 5 hours away so a visit isn't practical.

Oh well, perhaps I'll pass on this and just mod the seat I have and after shaving it on the sides and cutting it down on the top, I'll install a medical Gel Insert like I did to her Sportster seat.

so the pan may be used for various model seats. you cannot use that number for anything but a reference which frame the seat pan will fit.

some HD seats do have a "real" part number sticker in the usual XXXXX-YY format

many of the guys here use mean city cycles to mod their seats and they sound happy ( I have not).

the 08 seat is kind of a mutt, it mounts at the tank like the 09+ seats, but uses the old style frame, so a 09+ seat is likely too wide on the frame.

I do use an 09/10 version of the FLHX seat on my 09 and I like it fine for rides under 6 hours.

it puts the rider down an inch and back an inch, the bumper at the rear supports the rider when riding aggressively. the rear section is smaller than the 10+ version of this seat. looks sleeker without tourpak on

In my limited experience, that is correct. I have yet to see a Harley factory seat at a swap meet that was clearly identified with part number underneath.

I can also say with confidence and experience that at least on earlier Harley touring models the same pan is used for multiple different seats, with the foam and cover being the difference.
