What is normal at idle? Mine reads a little over 12 VDC idling. When I rev it up close to 2k rpm and above it is well over 14VDC. The only reason I am wondering is it has been a little sluggish to turn over a few times recently. Not every time though. Its a 2011 Limited.
Thats normal, mine does the same thing, if you want a true reading take it with a meter from your battery tender lead, or from the battery if you dont have a battery tender lead.

That sounds right.......I've read on this forum before.....you can't charge your battery in the winter by starting it and letting it idle for awhile. It doesn't achieve high enough charging voltage (14V) unless the engine achieves a certain RPM which is higher than idle. I have watched the volt meter while at a stop light and that's pretty much what I see. Maybe the battery is loosing some life and needs to be on a tender if the bikes not ridden for several days.
Mine reads the around same thing. The slow turn over was the first sign I had when my battery was going. A new battery solved that, she fires right up now.
The electrical systems on motorcycles and outboards motors are not great for recharging a low battery. They are designed as a maintaining system, not a true recharging system. I keep both my bike and boat on battery tenders all the time.

Agreed.
A slow crank over is a good, early sign of a week battery as soon as possible.
I have a '13 CVO Ultra that I purchased in October '12 and I'm going to rotate it into another bike and order a new one from Battery Mart before the riding season starts.
