Sounds like the infamous, illusive "death wobble", or decel wobble, if you google it.
This is a road glide I take it? Not all of them get it, my buddy has the same year RG as I do and his doesn't do it, yet mine does. From what I gathered, it's because of bad tolerances from the factory during assembly.
I remember finding a few articles about people wanting to file a class action law suit over it.
I've taken mine in for service and the service manager said, "When does it happen?" I said "When I'm decelerating from 40 to 30 ish and if I let go of the bars, I get a tank slapper."... then he said "You aren't supposed to ride with your hands off the bars, there's nothing we can do".
So I would assume the MoCo has handed them a script.
I remember talking to the guys at Hog Pro about it when my buddy was over there getting a wheel installed. They said they have a way of fixing it, by shimming the neck or something. You could PM them to see... I've been meaning to run mine over there one of these days (I live about 10 miles from them).
If it was not doing this prior to sitting up for 6 months then I would suspect the tires.
I'd go out for another ride get the tires good and warm and see if they come back around.
If this doesn't work then the fall away test/adjust
Every time I put new tires on most of these annoying handling issues disappear quick and every time I ask my self why did I waited one more day to get new rubber on.
Did an impromptu fallaway test today, and the result was that the front end turns a total of 4 times before returning to center. I'm guessing that means the steering head needs to be tightened.
