Battery charger/maintainer question??

Default Battery charger/maintainer question??
Just got a new battery charger/maintainer, the kit came with a lighter socket adaptor, instructions say you can charge/maintain your battery by plugging the adaptor in the cigarette lighter and this will do the same as attaching it to your battery, anyone ever test this theory?

If it came with a pigtail for the battery I would just do that personally.

Use the pigtail if you have it, the lighter socket adaptor can make the oe lighter not fit correctly afterwards

not on our bikes- the lighter is only "connected" to the battery when the ign/ switch is on or acc positions.

Are you talking about a Battery Tender? I would do the pigtail to battery, as mentioned.

Not all power outlets/cigarette lighter outlets are powered when a vehicle is off.

You need to use a pigtail connected directly to the battery.

You will get absolutely no charging at all unless the ignition is turned on or acc.
