I have the saddleman Todd's cycle low profile with gel seat.....have ridden thousands of miles on it and find it very comfy for long hauls. Besides If I do get a bit sore I just throw my airhawk on....but I rarely do
I had the Saddleman Road Sofa on my 08 Ultra Classic, kept the seat when I traded and put in on my 14 Ultra Limited, it is a good seat and the wife and I have put alot of miles on that seat. The bike had 10,660 miles when I put the Saddleman on and 65,765 when I traded. That should say alot about the seat, but I go by performance and not looks.
I put around 125,000 miles on my previous Road Glide with a Saddlemen "Road Sofa" seat with a backrest. It was a very good seat -- good enough so that I never felt the need to try anything else.
When I got my second Road Glide, it came with a Road Sofa on it, but without the backrest. I wanted to have the backrest added, but Saddlemen said they couldn't do it, I'd have to buy another seat with the backrest built in.
I didn't, decided to try a Mustang seat instead. Comfort level is roughly the same, although I feel the need to stretch a bit sooner with the Mustang than with the Road Sofa. But perhaps that just depends on how things go one day to the next.
Both the Road Sofas I've had were made out of the "Saddlehyde" (imitation leather) -- great covering material, looks natural, dries quickly if it gets wet. No gel pads in either one -- I heard they can get hot when sitting in the sun.
The 2nd Saddlemen Road Sofa (without backrest) is surplus now. I probably should put it into the classifieds, it fits a 2007 (before the new frame), so should fit perhaps 1998-2007? Anyone need one?
I've been running the Explorer w/gel pad for 20k miles on my 09 SG.
Had the same seat for 10k miles on my old Fatboy.
This seat has what I call the firm padding. It doesn't let you sink down in the seat after riding a while like the stock seat did (soft/pillow padding). It sits and feel the same all day long.
Yes the gel pad gets hot when you park in the direct sun. If you can't find shade to park in I might cover with something, usually a helment, tee shirt or towel.
Here's some pics on my SG. Not what I would consider a sleek/narrow seat compared to the stock SG seat.

That's a good looking seat at that angle but could you get a shot with a side view also, thanks.
I was looking for an all day comfortable solo/backrest seat and the new Saddlemen Dominator caught my attention. After talking to Buster at Saddlemen, I put my order in thru Drag Specialties thru a family member. The damn seat kept getting pushed back in production and now isn't available till mid May. I had enough, played it safe and ordered a Mustang super solo w/backrest. More $$ but oh well. I was going to try the Saddlemen...

Bought it used with about 100 miles on it. Pretty sure it's for a 2008 which I belive makes the nose of the seat extend up the tank a little further on my 09.
If you park in the sun you can place your hands on the seat and feel the higher temp of the gel pad. It's really not that big of a deal for me.
Along with the gel pad, the thing I like about this style of padding (firm) is it feels the same after riding all day as it did when you first get on. Your *** will not bottom out against the seat pan like the Sundowner that I had.
KR57 does this seat sit you any lower than the stock seat did? I like the look of this seat as well as the Road Sofa. I wanna sit a little deeper but I don't wanna go forward any at all.
I bought this seat solely for the purpose of modifying it to get my feet flat on the ground.
You can see in the 3rd pic where the pad is recessed into the foam. I removed material there and on the sides. With the help of a grinding pad, mission accomplished!
This is what it looks like with the cover pulled back.
