this morning I traded my 2000 Heritage Softail Classic for a 2009 Street Glide FLHX I rode around for a couple hours to get used to the bike and so far I'm loving it.
Same hear, traded a Softail Fatty last year for the 2013 Street Glide.....couldn't be happier. I thought I would miss the Fatty......naw
this morning I traded my 2000 Heritage Softail Classic for a 2009 Street Glide FLHX I rode around for a couple hours to get used to the bike and so far I'm loving it. I can actually go far away and be comfortable. the Heritage was a great ride for me but I wanted something with a radio, bigger tank and a fairing. the bike has ABS/Security Rhinehart pipes, Screaming Eagle intake, removable passenger backrest(I wanna get a removable rack, what's a good one?) not sure about the tuner yet. it also has a couple chrome pieces here and there. I got a good deal on it so I went for it....... I'll post a pic tomorrow or the next day, color is red(forgot which red) I can't believe how fast this thing is compared to the heritage, I didn't even use 6th gear yet(I will for sure)
You'll be very happy with that bike over the Softail.....Real Shocks and suspension!
What a concept...
Any swing arm bike handles and rides way better than any Softail bike....Softails handle like a truck!
I promised the woman and myself I would hold off on the extras for a while, but of course as soon as I got home I was all in the harley website looking for stuff. and of course this place is no friggin help. all i really need right now is a rack for an extra carry bag, I already have the passenger backrest and obviously the
the docking point............. but I know me, by the end of next week I will have spent a grand on this thing and still not happy............ we'll see, but I know I'm living a lie...
It takes a while to get your ride dialed in to where and how you want it to be.
That is the nature of the beast!
Look in the classifieds/touring section frequently several times a day if you can.
You can get some really good deals!!
I buy as well as sell in here.
GREAT SITE!!
So what's the "Must Have's" for this bike? I'm already thinking removable rack, upgraded amp and speakers, gps(this bike is set up for it with the module on the fairing) maybe a tuner(if it doesn't have one already) I have a Lenale cooling fan from the other bike but I have an oil cooler on this bike so I dunno if I need it, we'll see.............. what's the recommendation's...........
Must haves in my opinion are highway pegs, a better seat than the street glide stock seat, rider back rest, tour pak or a rack for a touring bag. After that then you can move onto power upgrades.

I bought tons of stuff in the softail bst and I'm sure I will buy tons of stuff in the Touring BST............. I am always looking in there, way more than 3 times a day too........... I'm working on dialing the air ride in right now. I love the ride and power of this bike. I won't miss the Heritage at all. it served me right but its someone's elses turn on it...................
