Default I got exactly what I deserve..

So I fill out online quote for an Indian with my bike as trade in a lark

They call me and offered $11,500 on trade for my 18 month old 2012 FLHR with 3k miles. I paid $16K for. As if.

Another $11,000 cash for a Polaris Chieftain. Not gonna happen in this decade,

And I qualified for $1000 discount being a Vet. Don't think I will be getting an Indian anytime soon. Not until they are worth $15K used and I can buy one and keep the Harley if I still think I want one at that time.

So I got exactly what I deserve and rode to Beach House Harley in NC and bought a shirt. I am sticking with the HD especially after seeing what $23,000 buys in Harley world.

Brand new Street Glide $23800 OTD. Plus $300 sales Tax in SC. Seems to me the Street Glide is a lot more bike than the Chieftain. They offered far more as well for mine. But I am going to keep it awhile. I know where I stand. Polaris is out of their minds.

The guys at Harley said wait till next year when Indians are selling used for $15K. I think I'll stay with Harley Davidson. There is no "book" an any Indain back to 2003. Loving my bike more and more with each ride.

BTW The Street Glide was a beauty. cleaned up the faring gauges very nice. When you put $24,000 in perspective the Indian does not hold a candle to a new Street Glide. I am guessing a lot of Harley riders who crossed over will return. That bike made me want to have somewhere to go.

Trade in value for your scoot in your zip code area is $11550, so they low balled you by $50......those bastards! So the Indian was $22500.........pretty much in line with a Harley

I am guessing NOT a lot of Harley owners that actually "crossed over" to an indian.

op: I think I remember a thread awhile ago about you saying your current Harley is just going to be a temporary thing.....

I guess you see what all the fuss is about now....finally

Yeah really. I really thought HD had better wholesale trade than a 2012 Victory. Foolish me!

My local Harley Dealer offered $13,000 as a buy out without buying a bike because it a 3K bike with another 6 months of factory Warranty. Same would apply toward a new Street Glide

If I really wanted to sell the bike I think I could get $14500 easily. But after really having a peek at the Road Glide for $23K I could not imagine paying that much for an Indian. I will have a look at the 15 Road Glides. I would rather raid the bank account of another $10K for a Road Glide than an Indian.

Hell I had been looking for over a year for a RK Custom. All the 2004s 5s were over $10K so I decided to look for a late model and found the bike I am riding and paid $13K plus an 07 Yamaha they are trying to get $4400 for. I certainly would not take $1500 more for a 2012 than guys were asking for 2004s and 5s. Dayam.

I was spanked by an Indian dealer. I deserved it

Yeah Indeed. I had been lukewarm on the bike for the first few weeks. Kind of an interim thing. But I have become filled with the "Harley Spirit"
The dealers are great. The activities are enjoyable and the bike is a hoot to ride.

I am all in now. A friend of mine predicted After having this bike for awhile I will forget about the Indian. I had to get the quote though even though I had not test ridden one.

He was right I am liking the RK more and more and after seeing the 14 Road Glide up close I think that's where I want to be for that kind of bread. Even if HD trade values are not all that next year. I 'll sell the bike with 3 years left of Harley ESP for $14500. It will have about 7k on it then.

I like the Chieftan Vintage. Of course, I think the Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero looks pretty cool, also.
