Default The 103 blues...

Let me say, up until this point, I was a proponent of the 103", the MOCO and all the new bikes. My '12 FLHTC is the best bike I have ever owned, my '11 FLHX 103" was just as awesome. Outside of a seeping front master cylinder gasket, and some concerns over the front brakes pulsing ( which has gone away ) I have been generally happy with the product. I am 27 year Harley owner. On my Evo I expected it, on the '01 it was better but still had teething problems. The '11 I had no issues with.

Now, at 15k I take my '12 in for service and tires. Then the service writer and calls and says the 5th gear, bearing, seal are wasted and my stator plug is leaking... I am like WTF. I realize it is all under warranty but...

Thanks for letting me vent.

sometimes they "upsell" warranty jobs that are really minor leaks that a normal person would not fix. Don't lose faith on something minor that did not let you down. Neither problem is "103" related, same parts on a 96" Mike

Were there any symptoms before you took it in or is your dealer trying to drum up warranty work?

The 5th gear bearing has been an issue for some time, I know several folks that had issues including myself, only difference that we had 30k-40k on them.
One would think they should last well over 100k with the technology in lubricants etc.

You say 103 blues, but the odd thing is none of the things you list are in the engine, they're in the primary and the trans!

If you didn't have the warranty then it would be the blues, stator plug wire leaking is very common. I have it with no warranty and just sealed it up with high temp rtv, consider yourself lucky its getting fixed!

I am praying for some cam or lifter blues on my 103. Stock cam and lifters will be history if I can get it replaced under warranty.
