Default Side reflector demo

But by accident, a picture taken of me the other day really shows how well they can help pop out the bike from the background.

Yes, I know the amber reflectors are missing from my frame. They'd fallen off over the years. Think I will replace them though.

That's what they're there for! The location has changed over the years, from the front fender and saddlebags when mine was new.

With the black 3M reflective stuff they use on so many jackets which seems to work pretty well, I wonder why they haven't gone to less visible reflector material or location on the bikes?
Personally, I agree with you on function over form concerning reflectors, especially given the conditions I tend to ride in frequently, but there is no question a better looking solution would be received well.

I'm all for making myself visible to other traffic. I'm still puzzled by guys who want to remove any reflectors they can get their hands on or who swap out their lenses for smoked lens or install tiny tail lights in place of the stockers.

just think, with a TourPak, you have a place to mount a revolving yellow light, or one of those ATV flags.

I have a white full-face helmet that I've used in the past (teaching a safety course). Folks told me it looks like a big bowling/cue ball - very visible...

Everytime I look at my reflectors I wonder how many times they've saved my life.

People love to take them off for a cleaner look but they are there for a reason.
Cagers have a hard enough time seeing us without us making if more difficult.

It seems like I am in the minority here.

My bike wasn't 2 hours old when I ripped the reflectors from the lower forks.

I think they look dorky.

I think you're on to something here!! Revolving amber on the top of the helmet should be the best for vis.

so your side reflectors make you visible to people on the sidewalk, big deal. mine are gone...

ps they are the size and color they are because of DOT regulations. no chance of being good looking.
