It would be best to get the right tank, EFI tanks are made different, have different plumbing and set up for internal fuel pumps. Find the right tank, it will be much easier and better than jerry rigging a efi onto a carb bike.

it depends on the year model. 2004 and newer touring bikes use the same fuel tank. Pre-2004 bikes had a different tank for the EFI adn carb. Definately check w/ the dealer and the parts manual. If you look at the last two digits of the part number that represents the years. Say for example, the part number for a 07 ultra tnak is 30011-04 (not the actual number) then any tank from an 04 to 07 will work. In 04 HD made a more standard tank and modified the EFI to tank connections to go into one hole rather than two as was previous. This allowed the EFI bikes to use the same tank inlet hole as a carb bike and one fuel line.
