I too sold a VTX 1800c (only had the thing for 4 months and had 2 speeding warnings) and bought a 07 Heritage once they announced the 96 cubes.
BTW you helped me out on the vtx forum and even set me up with some amsoil.
I still enjoy the Harley vs Honda board but always keep my mouth shut.
Spike, that was a nice looking ride you had there. I'm sure you'll love the RG as much or more. I see you have some old freinds over here, so you will fit right in. Congrats on the new ride.
So, what was your motivation? Did you figure you had completed the VTX experience and were looking for a new challange?
I sold my '03 VTX and bought an '02 Heritage. Finished that project, including an engine build and bought a new '05 Roadie. I've since looked at Confederate, BMW, Moto Guzzi, Ducatisand other HDs in search of the next rush. For some reason, when push comes to shove I can't imagine enjoying anything more than my Roadie. I really trust this bike with my life.
Iwouldn't be surprised ifyou'll want to eventually build the motor in order to unleashits power. I know I did. Congrats! I think you'll be very happy.
The reason for selling the X? I had been waiting for Honda to release a VTX Interstate type tourer with hard bags a trunk and full fiaring for the last 2 years. They dropped the ball, and I happened to go into a HD dealer when on a ride with some of my HD buddies last spring and saw this different looking bike, the Street Glide. Sat on it, looked it up and down and really got to know it. Even test rode it twice and really loved the power, the smoothness and that 6th gear was huge!. But every time I went into my local dealer there was the Road Glide sitting right up front. At first I was thinking what a weird looking fairing. By winter I was really digging that fairing and when I found out it was the same as the Street except for the fairing and a few other minor parts I ended up with the Road, and the full size lighted tour pack, shorter shocks, Sundowner with rider backrest and the list keeps growing
Spike, I'm sure they're going to miss you on VTXOA. 26k posts over there!
Welcome to HD. Why did you sell the VTX?
Yep, 26,700 postsandcounting still. I won't leave that site, over the last 5 years I've got too many friends there and had toomany good times to just leave. I will hang around and once I start learning more of the inner workings of the RG and from other respected members,I will grow more confident in offering help and assistance here when and where I can.
