Well, my custom VTX left on a trailer this morning. It was tough watching it go away, I put a lot of work and blood and tears in that bike in the last 5 years. The paintjob alone had meaning to my life with the shamrock on the rear fender and the lightning bolts ghosted in under the base coat. I was hit by lightning in 1995 on the 10th anniversary of my first date with my wife.
I'm moving on to a new challenge with my Road Glide that gets here in 2 weeks. New bike, new type of ride with the tourer. Can't wait to get started on that one!
Good looking metric you had there, nice paint also. Once you start fixin up the Roadie you will be ok. Congrats on the new ride, thinks are looking up.
Yeah Spike sold an 04 VTX and bought an 03 Ultra this winter. Been out twice and it is good. Definitely different, power wise but more comfort and the Mrs. likes that. Ride 2 up 90% any way.
Enjoy.
Spike, I also moved from my 03 VTX1800R this year to a 07 RK Classic. Have not regretted it. My question is are you still going to monitor the VTXOA forum? You had the bestadvice and suggestions on the forum.
sweet looking Honda there. I sold my 1976 Kawasaki KZ900 and my Susuki GSXR to get my EGlide Classic. The KAW I had since 1977 so you can imagine how that felt to let go. After getting used to the shaking and vibrations, I have never regretted leaving rice for meat and potatoes. I am a coverted HD lover of life.
I found a dealer that would trade for my 03 VTX 1800R. I went with the 07 Streetglide. It is smaller for riding 2 up and not as strong as the VTX, but man does this thing handle. The X really worked me over, especially in the twisties.
The Harley dealer gave me more than I think I could have sold it for, with the resale value on that bike not being so great, because of Honda's left over situation.
