If you are going to keep the touring bike to do long rides I would get a heritage soft tail it's much different than the touring and it's a nice bike to scooter around with

I'd definitely go with a Heritage. My wife and several buds have put thousands of miles on Heritage's and they swear by them. Me too.
If you don't lower the thing the ride quality is on par with any of the touring framed bikes plus they sit a bit lower in the saddle. The only drawback is the wire wheels which need tubed tires. Get a garage queen for cheap, put on some cast wheels and a hard bag kit and you've got yourself a great machine.

Riding style, habits, sooo much goes into this kind of thing... But as a 2nd bike I would have a heritage as well. RK or heritage was a tough call for me when i got my first not long ago. I went RK for tour features, I had a honda cruiser. The heritage felt much like the vtx. The king was a way different feel of riding.

Talked to a couple here on their glide not long ago, and he was telling me, change your handlebars and that he had a heritage as his "attitude" bike.

Depends on your riding style. Never had a Heritage, but had a Fat Boy, so essentially the same bike. For me, the HUGE difference is because a lot of my day trips and some longer trips are 2-up. I'm 6'1" and she's 5'11". The RK just gave us soooo much more room on the seat and the suspension is better equipped right off the showroom floor.

But if this will be a second bike, get the one that's the most fun to ride, which means YOU need to ride each one and then decide.

I hadn't had a softail since 1993; traded my Road King for an FLSTC... I don't regret that al all.

I loved the road king, but it was just (expectedly) too much like my Ultra. I'd try something different for a 'second bike'

The choice is yours, but if you want to have a second bike it's nice to have something different. The only real difference between the Roadking and Ultra is the fairing, vs. Windshield. Otherwise they're almost identical.

Look at Softails or Dyna's if you want to stay with HD. I have a Roadking Classic and a Softail Deluxe. They are very different bikes, but that's what I like about them. The Softail is comefortable and has an old school feel to it. Great for around town (or After recuperating from surgery). It has a much lighter feel. Still works great on the highway, but has the old school feel.

The Roadking has all the new tech features and eats up miles easily. It's my go to bike....but I still enjoy putting miles on the Deluxe.

Went from a 07 Heritage to a 2014 CVO King. My new bike is great, but had a tear in my eye when the Heritage went. Put 20k on that bike in 3 years. Loved it, especially once I had fitted a set of Shotgun air shocks. Wouldn't say one bike is better than the other, just different

RK is nothing but a stripped down touring bike but in the end the same thing. A softail is a different bike. Totally different frame and experience.

I used to own a Dyna SuperGlide Custom as a second ride. It was a great bike. One of the best handling rides around, a great day rider. I traded for a Road King a couple of years ago and have not looked back. I love my King.

I'm wanting a 2nd bike to my SG. I love my SG but just want a change now and then. I rented a Heritage for a day and it rode great. Very comfortable for a days worth of riding. However the engine vibration of the B engine drove me nuts. If I run into a deal I can't turn away, I will get the Heritage. But right now I'm looking at duel sport bikes because they are cheap and give a different perspective of riding.
