Default tour pack questions

Ok, looking for a tour pack for the RKC. Two questions actually for people that have installed them. 1) Any deals on purchases other than e-bay? 2) Can you purchase a mounting kit seperately and if so how much? Another question if anyone has information... can we access installation instructions for accessories anywhere on line?

Thanks as always!

I've purchased everything from my dealer.

I Ultra King pack, with my bike colors factory painted. This way I'm getting a new product, made by H-D, not all scratched up and modified by someone else who shipped it from Timbucktoo by ox cart with a different color scheme. I didn't have to havepainted by two different paints because it was not what I wanted by the first painter, which was the case with the front fairing.

It seemed to costall total out the door of the dealer, some $600 to $700. Have to dig out the receipts.Or you can call a dealer for the quote.

THats with the connections for the T-P to tie into a harness that I've had to make for the tail lights. It came pre-drilled for speakers, so I could add the rear pods. I chose DragonFly for the pods. The factory ones were pretty steep, and I was not running the H-K radio so didn't need the volume controls on the sides! Its also with the T-P detachable mounting system included in that price. I did use the the dealships "Hog Days" discount and got a pretty good one, with that large a purchase.

I would not recommend e-bay, or something online. Unless its from a friend that has a part from the site or something like that!

Large dollar items sight unseen can be ugly. You have to besure that you do "not" try and use a pre- '97 EG. It has a different underside and you will have to custom make a bracket for your bike.

There are several on e-bay at a discounted price. This is the leather wrapped "Classic" tour pack so color is not an issue. One specifically states "no hardware" thus prompting my questions. I might actually prefer a SLIGHTLY used piece so as not to have it look silly.

Used is not a problem. Just be cautious of how used it maybe, "before" you buy it. Ask for photos with some detail and if it has broken, blem's or missing items ask for detailed photos of those areas. Just don't want you to get stung.

I'd forgot about that leather wrap. Mine has paint.

Bob...I just did this last weekend... Classic Tourpack, Detachable Mount and Docking Kit.....Got everything from Zannotti's at a decent discount.... The only "Hardware" the Tourpack comes with is a U shaped chrome tube that bolts to the bottom of the tourpack, bolts, and some special little 'spacers'..... You then need a mount (permanent or detachable)... and if detachable...the docking kit....Assembling the tourpack was easy....the docking kit.... a pain in the rear.....

Definately, know what you are getting. I got a used pak off ebay and it was in pretty good shape, even the right color, but I noticed a small hairline crack and decided to get it fixed and repainted while i was getting my other bike parts painted. Wound up costing 400 for the pak and 300 for the paint. I still saved about 200 froma new one as this was an Ultra style with the tail light kit installed. But then add another 100 for the top luggage rack, 75 for the side accent lights/chrome, and the rear wrap around rack 90 and it is not hard to get 1500$ or so in a tour pak. Oh yea forgot to mention the lid organizer. It never ends.....

Bought the detachable King Tour Pack from dealer when I bought the bike. Colormatched and keyed to the bike with mounting hardware. Already had mounting hardware and sissy bar on it. Dealer add on. Alson antenna relocation kit. All said and done it was 1200.00 installed.
