we have ongoing discussions about plug wire and sparkplugs and how they affect the ion sense function of the ecm.

as far as we know- nobody has had driveability problem or codes with stock plugs and wires....some guys with performance plugs or wires have- and that includes some of the SE stuff.

I picked up a set of red wires a few months ago. No noticable difference but I think the fat red wires with the screamin eagle logo looks pretty cool. I didnt buy them with any intention of improving performance just for looks. Someone with a little more technical knowlage might chime in. You might have to lift the tank to get them routed correctly.

I installed the black Screaming Eagle wires. They are much thicker than the OE wires. The reason I changed was that the wire for the front cylinder was wearing on the bottom edge of the gas tank. It would have started shorting out at some point. I installed the new thicker wires and ran them inside some split loom. Problem taken care of.

Ed @ the dyno difference showed me where the fat wires were messing up the ion sensing on the ECM. Said the ECM was dectecting false knock and retarding the timing. Went back to the stock wires and all good. Of course if you aren't doing dyno tuning you likely won't have a problem.

To tell the truth, looking at all the dyno data is like the engineers showing me a well log at work. Bunch of squiggly lines that all look the same... I say if you like the way they look, go for it.

You bike will run a tad bit faster with Orange wires. It is a documented and proven fact. Buy litening up you wallet of all that cash for them you have increased the HP to weight ratio therefore the bike will run faster.

Im going to see Ed as soon as I get my cams and exhaust installed. I guess I will put my stock wires in my back pocket just in case.
