Weather looks good so I am going to try Myrtle Beach again, just avoiding the town of MB. Can anyone tell me if the "pipes band" is over or is MB still breaking ***** ??? Also any must do's ??? Thanks in advance JIM
Why bother going to an ******* city that does not want you there to begin with and have made it blatantly clear several times over?
It makes no sense?
I sure wouldn't.

As long as your not over revving your engine or playing your music too loud you shouldn't have an issue, but that's all rallies. If you have been before it hasn't changed. SBB at Murrells Inlet is always a good time!
If you're avoiding the town of Myrtle Beach, you shouldnt have a problem with the pipes. There is a lot of bypasses and connectors you can use to skirt Myrtle Beach. Their is so many traffic lights and slow traffic and heat that I avoid the town anyway.
From Wilmington NC to Charleston SC is my zone when down there.
Depends on your interest and what you want to see. I like the North end for small bars and out of the way places to eat and the South end for vendors and crowds with biker bars.

Because North Myrtle and Murrells inlet are different areas and still bring in a lot of attractions.
It would be like if Sturgis stopped wanting bikers but Rapid city started having the rally there, you could easily avoid Sturgis and still hit Spearfish and Dead wood and all the other good riding in the area.
Daytona tried years ago and a lot of stuff moved to Ormand beach, now Daytona is back in full swing!
There is still plenty of stuff to do at Broadway at the beach, thats the only area of Myrtle I take my bike to!
There is a load of stuff to do in the Grand Strand area during the rally. Yes, the city officials were total ******** several years ago but a lot seems to have changed. If you're on facebook you can search there or on the web for "Bike Week MB" and "Spring Beach Rally South Carolina". They are keeping everyone up to date along with posting information of a load of new bars, restaurants and hang outs that are jumping on the rally band wagon. The wife and I are going to focus on hitting these new spots and maybe a little less time at the overcrowded spots that everyone jams into.
There are a lot of businesses in MB that actually do like us and our motorcycles and truly appreciate us being there. I've noticed the local law enforcement stopping a lot of cages and hardly any bikes during the rally. Just don't give them a reason.
I have been the last several years. It is not as big as it once was. At one time all of the factories including semi-custom (Big Dog and Boss Hoss) has test bikes available. Now it seems only Harley Factory is there. There are still all of the aftermarket vendors there. Party crowd and biker bars in Murrell's Inlet and a lot of vendors at Barefoot Landing up North. I saw no unusual presence of the law in Myrtle Beach. I think they realized how much business they were missing. About 4-5 years ago the city of Mrytle Beach instituted a helmet law and issued citations for non compliance and loud pipes. The courts decided that it was unconstitutional and forced them to return the fines collected on the helmet law. Go and have fun, its a great week to visit.
MB is tough on everybody. The helmet ordinance was a bone-head move, obviously they had some poor legal advice.
If it don't feel right, then they probably have an ordinance against it.
Ride smart! It's not a town you can take over and do what you want. Be safe!!!
They have about two bikers killed there in crashes every year.
I've heard too many horror stories to go. One year a friend had his bike stolen, 8 am while eating at IHOP. Bike was chained to about 3 others, cut the chain and picked up the bike in a van and gone. Lucky he had good insurance and he upgraded. But what a pain!
Law all over in riot gear.
Not to mention that SC is the most crooked state in the South. If you get a speeding ticket, you will pay your ticket to an officer, and it will never show up on your record, just a way for the officers to make a little on the side.
